12th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal-based Surveillance Karlsruhe, Germany — August 25–28, 2015

Authors presenting at the IEEE AVSS conference are expected to follow detailed camera-ready formatting guidelines to ensure their work appears correctly in the official proceedings. The submission process requires careful attention to paper structure, figure resolution, and reference formatting. All accepted papers undergo a final review to confirm that revisions requested during the peer-review stage have been properly addressed. Presenters are encouraged to prepare clear, well-organized visual materials that support their oral presentations and facilitate engaging discussions with attendees from academia, industry, and government sectors.

The conference program features multiple tracks covering advanced video-based surveillance, activity recognition, and biometric systems. Authors presenting in these sessions should tailor their talks to a diverse audience of researchers and practitioners. Demonstrations of working systems and real-world deployments are particularly valued, as they bridge the gap between theoretical advances and practical applications. Presenters are advised to practice their timing carefully, as each session follows a strict schedule to accommodate parallel tracks and maintain the overall flow of the conference program.

Camera-ready submissions must comply with IEEE formatting standards, including proper use of templates for both initial submission and final publication. Figures and tables should be high-resolution and clearly labeled to ensure readability in print and digital formats. Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions for any third-party content included in their papers. The review process places strong emphasis on originality, technical soundness, and relevance to the surveillance and security research community.

Presenter instructions include guidelines for preparing slides and handling question-and-answer sessions effectively. Speakers are encouraged to highlight the key contributions of their work and to connect their findings to broader challenges in the field of advanced video and signal processing. The conference provides standard audiovisual equipment in each session room, and presenters should arrive early to test their materials. Networking opportunities abound during breaks and social events, allowing authors to exchange ideas with peers from around the world.

The IEEE AVSS conference brings together experts from academia, industry, and government to advance theories and methods in surveillance and security technologies. Authors play a vital role in this mission by sharing novel research findings and engaging in constructive dialogue with fellow attendees. The conference history includes workshops on topics such as tracking, border security, and traffic monitoring, reflecting the breadth of the field. Participants are encouraged to explore the venue and surrounding area, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and shared discovery.

Camera-Ready Paper Submission

Congratulations on your accepted AVSS paper. Please follow the steps below to submit the final camera-ready version.

  1. Revise your paper. Read the reviewer comments carefully and revise your paper to address them where applicable. Add complete author information and revert any changes you had made to ensure author anonymity during the review process.
  2. Format your manuscript. Final papers are limited to 6 pages in double-column IEEE format, including all figures and references. All manuscripts are published as IEEE proceedings.
  3. Check PDF compliance. Use IEEE PDF eXpress Plus to validate that your PDF meets IEEE Xplore compatibility requirements before submission.
  4. Submit via Microsoft CMT. Upload your camera-ready paper through the Microsoft CMT submission system by the stated deadline.
Important: Papers that do not comply with the 6-page limit or IEEE formatting standards may be excluded from the proceedings.

Presenter Instructions

At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the work in person. Presenters should prepare slides that fit within the allocated time slot, including a brief period for questions.

Further details on session scheduling and presentation equipment were provided to registered authors closer to the conference dates of August 25–28, 2015, at KIT in Karlsruhe.

Paper Submission for Review

The initial submission process required authors to submit high-quality full papers representing original results in all areas of signal-based surveillance. Submissions were managed through the Microsoft CMT platform, with a double-blind review process in place to ensure fair evaluation.

For details on the original call and topic areas, see the Call for Papers.
